I am curious if you are attempting to run the standalone version of NS4 or if you are attempting to use the plug-in. The only issue is that VueScan will not work directly through PhotoShop via Plug-in. I have gotten better scans with VueScan than I ever did with Nikon Scan 4. I use it with my CoolScan IV and my Canon Multifunction Scanner. The purchase price is about $40 and is Universal (meaning it runs natively on PPC or Intel Macs). It works with nearly all scanners (film and flatbed). You can test it out to see if you like it.

LOL It's got about 1" of dust on it sitting here on my desk. I've not used my CoolScan 8000 for about 2 years now. In 10.4, like you, just up and crashed on startup, or right after scanning. > I never had luck with NS4 and even OS X 10.4 Pottstown | PA | USA | Posted: 3:39 PM on 08.04.08 This post is: Informative (0) | Funny (0) | Huh? I should receive an email from Nikon when they upload the newest fix for MacOS 10.5 BTW, I know about the demos for SilverFast and VueScan.
NIKON SCANNER SOFTWARE MAC UPDATE
Well, I called Nikon a few minutes ago, and it seems that the MacOS update that went out the other day corrupted the ability for NS4 and Leopard (10.5.4) to play once again. I even downloaded the 4.0.2 upgrade.Īfter all the downloaded and installing, something happened. Checked their tech support, and though I knew NS4 was not officially friendly with Leopard, there was a notice on their site stating that as of Augthey were friends again. I fully removed NS4 from my Mac, and downloaded a fresh copy from Nikon. Went back to film strip, and it would quit as soon as film was inserted. I tried the stock slide scanner, and it worked. If there is film in the holder (and before anyone asks, the holder is the stock one that Nikon included with the CS V) NS4 will start up, and just as fast quit.

It has been a few weeks since I used my scanner, but this weekend I sat down with some amazing free time to scan a few more pages of my archive, and something strange is happening, if no film in the holder, starts right up. > Hello all Mac users that also use Nikon Scanning software.
